  • Course Requirements

    To enroll in this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • • Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of D+ or equivalent
    • • Basic proficiency in English
    • • Copies of academic certificates & identification documents
    • • Application fee of Kshs. 2,000 (Non-refundable)
  • Course Duration

    The Certified Patient Care Technician course is completed in 6 months and includes both theoretical learning and practical training.

    • • 4 Months: Classroom-based learning where students acquire foundational knowledge in patient care techniques, medical procedures, and clinical skills.
    • • 2 Months: Clinical internship where students gain hands-on experience working directly with patients in healthcare facilities, applying their learned skills in real-world settings.
  • Assessment & Certification

    Upon completion, graduates will receive a TVET-accredited diploma, recognized nationally and internationally.
    Additionally, graduates will receive a certificate that is accredited and recognized internationally in the USA, Canada, and beyond.

    • • Written Examinations: To assess knowledge on healthcare concepts, medical procedures, and patient care techniques.
    • • Practical Assessments: Evaluations of hands-on skills, such as patient mobility, blood collection, and EKG monitoring.
    • • Internship Evaluation: Performance reviews during the clinical internship, where students work directly with patients under supervision.
    • • Final Exam: A capstone exam to test both theoretical knowledge and practical skills before certification is awarded.

Key Learning Areas

  • Medical Procedures. Students will learn how to assist with a range of medical procedures, including injections, specimen collection, and patient assessments, ensuring that procedures are conducted safely and efficiently.
  • EKG Monitoring. The course includes comprehensive training in electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring, teaching students how to perform and interpret heart tests to monitor patients' cardiovascular health.
  • Phlebotomy. Students gain expertise in blood collection techniques, ensuring accuracy and safety when drawing blood samples for diagnostic purposes.
  • Patient Mobility and Transfer. Students will learn proper techniques for assisting patients with mobility challenges, including how to safely move and transfer patients between beds, chairs, and other positions.
  • Bedside Care. A key component of the program is bedside care, which includes monitoring patient vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, providing comfort, and ensuring overall patient safety.
  • Wound Care. Learn the fundamental techniques for dressing wounds, preventing infections, and providing necessary care for patients with injuries or surgical wounds.
  • Emergency Procedures. Training in emergency protocols, including CPR, first aid, and other life-saving measures, will be part of the curriculum.
  • Patient Education. Students will be trained in how to educate patients about their health conditions, treatment plans, and wellness practices, fostering patient independence and engagement.
  • Clinical Documentation. Students will learn proper documentation techniques for maintaining patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all patient interactions.
